    Our Story

Stefan Alexander Barrett, founder of Cerana

    A note from our founder

Thank you for being part of something special. It is a very exciting time for us, we are right at the start of our journey.

I wanted to tell you why Cerana exists, because it is simpler than you would think.

It started with Gymshark vests. I am 5ft 9, and they were always too long on me. Great through the shoulders and the chest, completely wrong length. Every time I found something that fit one part of me, it got another part wrong. I figured if it was frustrating me that much, it was frustrating a lot of other guys too.

That is the whole problem, and almost nobody does anything about it. Brands grade a size across the chest and leave the length alone, so a size M is the same length for a man of 5ft 6 and a man of 6ft 2. One of us is swimming in it, the other is pulling it down all day.

The other half came from Bali. I went travelling, fell in love with the place, and met Johnny out there. Some people you meet and you just know. We had to build something together and it had to be in Bali. That is not a business plan, but it is the truth.

So we do it backwards on purpose. Nothing at Cerana is made until you order it. When you do, your tee is cut, sewn and finished for you in our factory in Bali, by five people we know by name, then rides our weekly Friday dispatch to you. And because it is being cut anyway, you can have it up to 10cm shorter or longer than standard, at no extra cost. That is the thing I could never buy for myself.

Yes, that is slower than next day delivery. Nothing sits in a warehouse waiting to be discounted, because nothing is made before someone asks for it. Only the tees people actually want, made once and made well.

Thank you for being here from the start. It means a lot to me.

Most brands cannot name one person who touched their clothes. We can name everyone.
